Huntington Chorea” The treatment based on syndrome differentiation of the switch for spontaneous healing. – Wen-Gun Liu. (Jung-Hou)

Clinical Case of the switch for spontaneous healing, taking Huntington Chorea for example:

2015/9/3, the patient, Mr. Chen has been recommended to the Liu’s lab of the switch for spontaneous healing,

receiving clinical treatment. Mr. Chen is now aged 47 years old, born in Tainan.

A traffic accident 10 years ago hurts his neck and head, causing his arms and legs uncontrolled shaking.

After inspection, doctor told him that it is some kind of chorea. Due to this syndrome,

Mr. Chen applied for disabled qualification and compensation issued by the government.

The symptoms include uncontrolled movements which seem like fast and irregular dancing.

It could be obviously seen the uncontrolled movements of arms, legs, and body.

The same movements repeat quickly on eyebrows and the forehead, wired facial expression, unstable speaking, and walking.

After a certain period of intensive treatment, the situation is getting better not only the description from the patient himself,

but also the observation from the family. All of us, the entire team, are proud of ourselves.

We have this great opportunity to exam the treatment based on syndrome differentiation of the switch for spontaneous healing,

and would like to share this treasury relationship and this story.

The origin & procedure of treatment:

The father of energy therapy in Taiwan, Dr. Chung Chieh, graduated from Medical school of National Taiwan University.

Due to the training as Traditional Chinese Medicine, especially in acupuncture area, he became the first doctor who is mastered of both Chinese and Western medicine.

Dr. Chung established the division of acupuncture & the research center of traditional medicine in Veterans General Hospital after 70s.

He invented the modern teaching method of acupuncture based on the viewpoint of western medicine, leading countless doctors to start

learning the traditional Chinese medicine, which expanded the vision of vital energy and blood. Finally, Dr. Chung discovered

the energy therapy area, and asserted that energy is the origin at all, establishing the energy medicine association Taipei, Taiwan.

After being a doctor for 40 years, Dr. Chung asserts the theory of the switch. All the illness is due to the off

situation of the switch inside the body somewhere, just like a turn-off bulb.

Once we found and turn it on, the spontaneous healing would be activated at a glance.

Upon the expectation by Dr. Chung’s teaching, I always keep this theory in faith

and examine the switch in the following cases: PVS awakening, stroke rehabilitation, and craniotomy rehabilitation,

and neuropathy, ankle swelling for 30 years, poliomyelitis, and general paralysis.

We make impossibilities into possibilities for several times and help to back to work or family.

I would like to share all these information and data to the people who pay attention to healthcare and nourishment.

In order to decrease the impact and the time you waste due to the incorrect information, it is my honor to show you the journey

of the switch for spontaneous healing when facing Huntington Chorea for the reference so that it doesn’

t fall short of my teacher’s and elders’ expectations.

Huntington Chorea”, the treatment based on syndrome differentiation:

Subjective description by Mr. Chen: I a 47-year-old man who is born in Tainan. A traffic accident 10 years ago hurt my neck and head,

causing my arms and legs uncontrolled shaking. After inspection, doctor told me it is some kind of chorea. I do some researches,

and look for any possible ways, however, it got worse. My body always shakes, even I cannot swallow.

Here are the abnormal phenomenon lists after the elementary inspection:

1.      Head would shake upward uncontrolledly.

2.      Rapid and uncontrolled movement on eyebrow and forehead.

3.      Right hand keep shaking over the shoulder, and left hand keep brandishing

around the waist faster and faster when walking, except sleeping.

4.      Weird facial and eyes expression.

5.      Unstable speaking and walking.

6.      Hard to swallow, and tend to choke when drinking.

7.      Muscles stiff abnormally on shoulder and the upper back.

8.      Shoulders shake uncontrolledly.

9.      Cannot use the chopsticks.

10.  Dropping the bowl and chopsticks when shaking on hands.

11.  Imbalance.

12.  Unstable walking, just like dancing.

13.  Cannot write normally.

14.  Cannot use a cell phone.

15.  Impetuous and disturbed in mood.

16.  Easy to sweat and having night sweat.

17.  Uncontrolled tiptoeing when walking.

The disease knowledge and the treatment in plan:

Finding the cause of Huntington Chorea is the most priority item, and then find

out the procedure to activate the switch. Huntington Chorea could possibly happen everywhere over whole body, a

nd the cause for Mr. Chen is an accident which may hurt his neck & head.

Finally the situation gets worse and hit the critical point that he is not able to function independently.

Back to the origin cause, the injure 10 years ago could only be inspected

by Neck X-ray with different angle, 0°, 45°, and 75° as below. (Figure I)

Figure INeck X-Ray 2015/9/7

Analysis of the sequela by Neck X-ray:

From the results of the neck X-ray, it is obviously abnormal from the lower cervical vertebra to first dorsal vertebra,

and first cervical vertebra to third cervical vertebra. These abnormalities could possibly effect the nerve conduction between

medulla oblongata and cerebellum directly, and also lead to dysfunction of the motor nerves.

We now realize that a series of locomotor disease is related to the damage of basal ganglia based on our medical research

and neurobiology since 20th century, for example the Parkinson’s disease and the Huntington Chorea are very similar.

Basal ganglia is a series of motor nucleus under cerebral cortex deep inside the cerebrum, connecting to cerebral cortex,

thalamus, and brain stem. As we know, the main function of basal ganglia includes the following items: control of voluntary movement,

coordination between awareness activities and motor responses, and also involving memory formation.

Tremble on arms & legs is one symptom of the Parkinson’s disease which is due to the dysfunction of basal ganglia,

the same reason would result in shaking with a large movement. There are two different ways that basal ganglia

would receive the impulse from the cerebrum, including excitatory, and inhibitory.

When both impulses is balanced, and the muscles could receive the impulse successfully,

all the movements over whole body would be normal.

First stage of the procedure of the treatment:

In order to keep the situation of cervical vertebra in a better way, and then activate the nerve conduction around head,

eventually turn on the switch of spontaneous healing, the following are the necessary i

tems that patient should obey daily in the very beginning of treatment.

1.      Patient should sleep on his back and make sure the neck has been supported. Our team provides the assistive devices which

can allow the patient sleep on his back only; also the suitable next guard is prepared.

Due to the incorrect sleeping posture, all the treatments would possible be in vain. (Figure II, left)

2.      Brushing his hair with a wide-toothed comb for 15 mins twice on morning

& night daily, activating and stimulating the head. (Figure II, middle)

3.      Irradiating the motor & sensory area and brain stem with red light, also the phototherapy cap should be used if any

available time. This therapy is based on full spectrum light therapy rehabilitation system. (Figure II, right)

Figure IIThe necessary items that patient should obey daily

There are 3 steps in first stage as below:

1.      Elevating the energy over the whole body.

According to the theory of switch of spontaneous healing by Mr. Liu, the origin of this theory is based on

the science of channels and collaterals. Once the vital energy and blood inside is sufficient, our body would become healthier.

In the ancient time, two pairs of acupuncture point, LI1 & LIV3 used to promote healthcare by Chinese doctors, however i

t has been improved nowadays that 6 acupuncture points would be the better and wider option; all 6 points are located

on the far side of arms & legs. (Figure III) The first time we used there 6 points on patient and it seem

s obviously the range of shaking on arms & legs is decreasing, yet the shoulders remain the same.

Figure III6 acupuncture points & Massage on neck responding area.

1.      Strengthen the activation on shoulders & neck.

According to the theory of switch of spontaneous healing by Mr. Liu, the origin of this theory is based on the

reflexology of organs and spinal cord compression. Besides the fomentation on shoulders and neck,

a series of simple massage on neck & spine would be applied too. It lead to decrease the frequent of shoulders shaking.

2.      Activating the damaged brain, and switch on the spontaneous healing.

Based on the neck X-ray, the massive hurts on medulla oblongata, cerebellum, and cerebrum is inevitable due to the helmet

hit the ground overall when the accident happened. We should focus on medulla oblongata and cerebellum as the most priority,

and then the cerebrum. The severe swallow problem is caused by medulla oblongata, and the dysfunctional sense of balance

is due to the cerebellum’s injury. Scalpneedle Therapy would be applied in this case referred to Illustrated New Scalpneedle Therapy

by Dr. Chung Chieh, and stimulating the different area of skin depends on the different functions of cerebrum cortex.

An electronic acupuncture device would be applied for 5 to 10 mins of each area. At the first time, the frequency and

current should be slow and tiny. (Figure IV, left for stem area, right for balance area.)

Figure IVleft for stem area, right for balance area.

The results & reviews of first stage:

After the first treatment, even the shaking on hands and body remains the same,

the family accept to take a full procedure (10 times) and see what this therapy can do.

When complete the 5th times, patient is able to control his arms & legs for 5 mins, also walking stable and smooth swallow.

That means the switch of spontaneous healing on medulla oblongata and cerebellum

has been turn on gradually, and then we can move to next stage, treatments on cerebrum.

Second stage of the procedure of the treatment:

Based on the rule of thumb, some solutions around foot area along liver channel have been considered as below.

1.      Liver has the capability to store the blood; this solution could help the patient to metabolize.

2.      Liver also governs tendons and nerves, this solution could help the patient to control his muscles and movements.

             i.                Selected point from Tung’ acupuncture – Ming-Huang, which is in the center of inner thigh (Figure V,

left), indicating of liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, cardiac stuffiness, Parkinson’s disease, trembling on arms & legs, and especially epilepsy.

Selected point from Tung’ acupuncture – Shang-Liu, which is in the center of leading edge of planta (Figure V, middle), indicating of hydrocephalus,

       i.                cerebellar pain, cranial neuralgia, cerebral neurasthenia, and especially brain tumor.

ii.                Sedative points around head – Cheng-Hui (the center of head), Ch’ien-Hui (1.5 inches in front of Cheng-Hui),

Hou-Hui (1.6 inches in back of Cheng-Hui), and Chen-Ching (0.3 inches above the center of eyebrows).

(Figure V, right). These 4 points are very useful to treat cerebral neurasthenia and Huntington Chorea, also epilepsy.

Figure V, left for Ming-Huang, middle for Shang-Liu, and right for 4 points on head.

The results & reviews of second stage:

After the series of acupuncture point along liver channel has been applied, especially the Ming-Huang from Tung’s acupuncture,

the dancing phenomena is down to the minimum level immediately. Patient even fall asleep after the other acupuncture points has been applied.

The results is more beyond the expectation, however, still some items could be improved as below.

1.      Head would shake slightly up and down.

2.      Shrugging shoulders frequently occasionally.

3.      Hands would spin and tremble slightly.

4.      Walking with the heel grounded, however still not stable at every steps.

According to the theory, all these phenomena show the greater improvement. Furthermore, repairing the nerves conduction

is the most important item now, we decided to process this solutions, and receiving the better results.

According to the theory of switch of spontaneous healing by Mr. Liu, there are some different stages when one is getting healthier.

In order to recognize the stage and adjust the treatment, this “efficacy measure index” would be adopted as below.

1.      Initial improvement: This is the very beginning stage of recovering.

2.      Rapid improvement: The improvement is coming faster and apparently.

3.      Gentle improvement: In order to maintain the results, this stage should not

be interrupted even the improvement is getting slower.

4.      Saturated improvement: The previous solution could hit its limitation, and all the possible

solutions should be considered in this stage, recognizing how long the efficacy can stand.

According to the index above, the patient is now at the index 2, and the treatment might hit its limitation

if there is no any improvement, which means another solution should be considered under this circumstance.

After a period of time, the improvement is wonderful and almost 80% of the symptoms is gone based on

the subjective description by patient and his family. In other word, this is the index 3. However, another solution might lead to the wrong way,

decreasing the trust to each other, and waste more time and patience.

At this moment, there is something happened that even astonishing the patient, Mr. Chen can use the chopsticks and pick up a peanut.

This is totally beyond Mr. Chen’s imagination, and he realizes that he could probably recover his health again.

(Figure VI, Mr. Chen pick up a peanut with the chopsticks.)

Third stage of the procedure of the treatment:

As we trust each other well, the third stage of the whole procedure would be applied in order to exam the theory of switch of spontaneous healing.

The origin of this series of motor disease is the damaged basal ganglia. As we know, the auricle of ear is all connected to the meridians &

channels, so the acupuncture points around ear are used to cure some diseases which is related to cerebrum & nerves.

In this case, we select two points which are exactly the switch of spontaneous healing, the Zhi-Dian & Zhui-Ti.

Zhi-Dian in connected to the motor center of cerebrum cortex, equal to the precentral gyrus in front of central sulcus.

This area is consisting of large cells of motor nerve which is able to control the contralateral voluntary movement.

Zhi-Dian is in the lower third of center of inside plane of antitragus (Figure VII, left),

indicating of epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and Huntington's disease, etc.

Zhui-Ti is in the notch between helix and tragus, which is located in the end of antihelix

(Figure VII, right), indicating of extrapyramidal disease, including dystonia, and dyskinesia.

Implementing the third stage of the procedure of the treatment:

In order to understand the patient’s condition, 200 words handwriting is a requirement after each treatment.

All pros and cons would be found out from the hand writing, taking macrographia for example, is a symptom that cerebellum is still injury.

Micrographia and skew handwriting is common phenomena among the patients of Parkinson’s disease. After a period of time

the patient receiving the third stage of treatment, patient now can write normally and use the smartphone as usual. (Figure VIII, Handwriting)

Till the deadline of this report, Mr. Chen is still working on the last treatment and planning his future.

He used to review this journey and see the tremendous differences in photos and videos,

and find out it is hard to accept himself in old day. (Figure IX, Patient sees his magic change.)

Finally, Mr. Chen must work hard to control his movement in front of a mirror. Due to the reason

that he used to shake his whole body for a long time, and it is hard get rid of this habit even he can do all the voluntary movements by cerebrum now.

The conclusion of this case is very successful; the following are the remaining items.

1.          Head would shake slightly uncontrolledly.

2.          Muscles stiff abnormally on shoulder and the upper back.

3.          Shoulders shake slightly uncontrolledly.

Suggest that strengthening the activation of accessory nerve, CN XI, which is dominating the mixed

nerve around the neck and upper back, and then decreasing the symptoms of shrugging and neck stiffness directly.

Everyone should protect his/her own fragile brain, being aware of the environment and events,

including the healthcare and nourishment. “Prevention is better than cure” is the best policy at all.

In this case, the whole team learns a lot, knowing how to treat the people around us with love,

being humble when face the patients. According to above, the gate of wisdom would open for you.

Methodology is all from your heart. Once you are able to calm yourself from heart,

it is naturally the switch of spontaneous healing can be turn on, and all the illness would keep its distance from you.
